Staying Active with Marilyn: Stretches for those tight quads
Loosen thigh muscles with these yoga poses
EDITOR'S NOTE: It’s strongly recommended that you consult with your physician before beginning this or any exercise program.
Your quadriceps are the group of four muscles in the front of your thighs. Quads tend to be tight in cyclists, runners and individuals who sit or are inactive for long periods of time. In this video, Kingsville yoga and fitness instructor Marilyn Farnworth demonstrates eight yoga poses/stretches (chair, standing quad/dancer, warrior 2, crescent lunge, lizard, hero, half saddle, wide child's pose) to help combat this problem. Pigeon, bow and camel poses from the previous videos also help to stretch the quads, prevent injury, reduce pain and improve range of motion in the knee and hip joints.
