Add power to your golf swing by strengthening core muscles
Stretches, weight training build stability and stamina
It’s strongly recommended that you consult with your physician before beginning this or any exercise program.
Golf is a game of accuracy, stamina and strength. In this video, Kingsville fitness instructor Marilyn Farnworth will demonstrate some exercises that may help improve your core body strength and associated upper body, back, hip and leg strength. You will need dumbbells (three to 10 pounds) depending on your conditioning and the muscle group being worked. If you have a kettlebell that will also be useful but a dumbbell can be used in its place. To start, do one set of eight repetitions of each exercise two or three times a week on non-consecutive days and then increase it to two or three sets of each. Good luck on the links!
